Surah As-Sajda is the 32nd chapter of the Holy Quran. It is a Meccan Surah consisting of 30 verses. The Surah is named "The Prostration" because verse 15 describes the true believers as those who fall in prostration when reminded of Allah's verses. This Surah contains a verse of obligatory prostration (sajdah tilawah) when recited.

The Surah opens with the mysterious letters Alif, Lam, Meem and emphatically declares that the revelation is without doubt from the Lord of the worlds. It addresses fundamental themes of faith: the reality of revelation, the power of God in creation, the nature of human origins, the certainty of resurrection, and the ultimate judgment. It presents powerful arguments from creation, the water cycle, and historical evidence.

A central theme is the contrast between believers and disbelievers. The believers are described as those who forsake their beds to call upon their Lord in fear and hope, who spend from what Allah has provided, and who fall in prostration when reminded of His verses. For them, Allah has prepared hidden rewards beyond human imagination. The Surah ends with a powerful call to patience: turn away from the mockers and wait — indeed, they are also waiting.
